Graphite is the preferred forming material for the glass industry because it machines to complex geometries, withstands thermal shock, and releases glass without bonding or contamination. As a graphite supplier to the glass industry in India, Expo Advanced Materials manufactures moulds, plungers, neck rings, baffles, and shaping tools for container glass, flat glass, and technical glass applications.

Graphite Components We Supply for Glass

  • Bottle and jar moulds — Sectional moulds for IS (individual section) machines. Machined to profile from dense extruded graphite with anti-oxidation coating for extended service life.
  • Plungers — Solid and hollow plungers for press-and-blow and blow-and-blow processes. Surface finish Ra ≤ 0.4 μm on glass-contact surfaces.
  • Neck rings / finish rings — Precision-bored to ±0.02 mm on thread-finish geometry. Critical for glass-container sealing performance.
  • Baffles — Flat or profiled baffles for parison formation in container glass. Custom to IS machine type.
  • Float glass shaping tools — Edge rolls, restrictor bars, and guide tools for flat glass ribbon control.
  • Technical glass mandrels and forms — For borosilicate tubing drawing, optical glass pressing, and laboratory glassware forming.

Anti-Oxidation Coating

Uncoated graphite oxidises in the glass furnace atmosphere above 500 °C, limiting service life. All glass-industry graphite components from Expo are available with our anti-oxidation coating system that raises the effective air-oxidation threshold to above 700 °C, typically tripling mould and plunger life compared to uncoated graphite.

Grade Selection for Glass Applications

Component Grade Reason
Bottle mouldsDense extruded EGCost-effective, good thermal conductivity
PlungersFine-grain isostaticSuperior surface finish, less glass pickup
Neck ringsFine-grain isostaticDimensional stability for critical thread geometry
Float glass toolsIsostatic or extrudedDepends on proximity to glass ribbon

Export Experience

We export glass-industry graphite components to container glass manufacturers, float glass plants, and technical glass producers across South-East Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. All components ship with dimensional inspection certificates and coating specification sheets.

How to Order

Share component drawings (PDF, DXF, or 3D step files), specify glass type and forming process, and indicate required quantity. We respond with grade recommendation, pricing, and lead time within 24 hours.
